Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this pivotal store role, candidates must satisfy the following essential criteria: A minimum educational qualification of Grade 10 or an NQF 3 certificate is required, coupled with at least one (1) year of work-related experience in retail, customer service, or a similar fast-paced environment. Alternatively, candidates possessing a full Grade 12 (Matric) certificate will be considered even without specific related work experience. Excellent communication skills are non-negotiable; you must be able to communicate effectively in English as well as the dominant local language spoken in the Metz community to serve our diverse customer base authentically. You must possess a valid South African Identity Document or a legitimate work permit. A foundational ability to perform basic calculations accurately is necessary for stock and pricing tasks. This role demands full flexibility; you must be willing and available to work scheduled shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as retail operates on a customer-centric schedule. Finally, resilience is key; you must demonstrate the capability to work efficiently and maintain composure under pressure during peak trading times.

Key Performance Areas & Detailed Responsibilities
Your performance will be measured across several core areas that define retail excellence. In Customer Service, you will be the face of the store. This involves proactively advising and assisting customers with product selection, providing accurate information to resolve queries, and playing a hands-on role in assisting with and resolving customer complaints in a professional and empathetic manner, ensuring every customer leaves satisfied. Your work in Merchandising Standards ensures our products sell themselves. You will be responsible for merchandising the bulk stock area safely and strictly according to the store’s layout plan. You must ensure your designated area of responsibility is always fully stocked, faced, and merchandised according to official planograms and commercial directives, creating an appealing and shoppable environment.

Housekeeping is a continuous responsibility. You must ensure your aisles and sections are free of obstacles, boxes, and debris. Stock must be merchandised promptly after being received from the warehouse. A critical duty is guaranteeing customers can move into, through, and out of your aisle safely without any risk of injury or irritation. You are accountable for correct and current shelf price labelling within your zone. Furthermore, you will be required to complete designated checklists, such as canteen and toilet/shower cleanliness schedules, when assigned to those duties, upholding overall store hygiene. Regarding Safety (OHSA) Requirements, compliance is paramount. You must consistently adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including the correct use of personal protective equipment. You are tasked with ensuring both customers and colleagues can move safely within the store by merchandising racking and bulk stock securely. Any safety hazards, structural issues, or discrepancies must be reported immediately to the Store Manager.

A key commercial focus is to Manage Stock Loss. You play a direct role in shrinkage prevention by vigilantly identifying and reporting any damaged, spoiled, or suspect stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager promptly, protecting the store’s assets.
