Job Purpose:
To provide a comprehensive and effective cleaning service to all allocated areas within the Limpopo Provincial Treasury Head Office. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation, thereby supporting a healthy, safe, and professional working environment for staff and clients.
Minimum Requirements:
· Education: An ABET (Adult Basic Education and Training) / AET qualification or a Grade 10 certificate. The qualification must be recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
· Experience: Proven practical knowledge and experience in housekeeping and commercial or office cleaning services.
· Skills and Competencies:
· Practical ability to operate standard cleaning equipment and machinery (e.g., vacuum cleaners, floor polishers).
· Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills.
· Reliability, honesty, and a strong work ethic.
· Ability to work methodically under pressure and follow instructions precisely.
· An understanding of and commitment to health and safety standards related to cleaning chemicals and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will report to a Supervisor and will be responsible for the following core functions:
Daily Office and Workspace Cleaning:
· Perform daily cleaning of all assigned offices, workspaces, boardrooms, and common areas.
· Dust, polish, and wax all office furniture, including desks, chairs, cabinets, and fittings.
· Empty and clean waste paper baskets and ensure proper disposal of rubbish.
Floor and Surface Care:
· Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and shampoo all types of floor surfaces (tile, carpet, etc.) as per the cleaning schedule.
· Clean walls, windows (inside accessible panes), doors, door frames, and skirting boards.
· Maintain cleanliness in all corridors, passages, stairwells, and elevator interiors.
Sanitary Facility Maintenance:
· Daily cleaning, sanitising, and deodorising of all restrooms, toilets, and ablution facilities.
· Replenish consumables such as toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels.
· Clean and disinfect all sanitary fixtures, including sinks, taps, urinals, and toilet bowls.
Equipment and Supply Management:
· Clean shared office equipment like microwaves, kettles, and vacuum cleaners after use.
· Ensure the safekeeping, proper use, and basic maintenance of all cleaning materials, equipment, and machinery.
· Promptly report any broken, damaged, or malfunctioning cleaning tools, equipment, or fixtures to the supervisor.
Adherence to Standards:
· Execute all duties in accordance with established health, safety, and environmental regulations.
· Use cleaning chemicals and detergents as directed and in line with safety data sheets.
· Perform any other related duties as instructed by the supervisor to meet the operational needs of the directorate.
