Learnership Purpose:
This 12-month Unemployed Learner Visual Merchandiser learnership is designed to provide a comprehensive and immersive introduction to the world of sales execution and brand representation. The programme aims to equip unemployed South African youth with critical commercial acumen, hands-on experience in customer service, and specialist skills in visual merchandising. Successful participants will earn a nationally recognised qualification while playing an active role in driving volume growth and brand presence for CCBA within a designated geographical area. The role is fundamental to ensuring our products are available, visible, and appealing to consumers at the point of purchase.
Reporting Structure:
The Learner Visual Merchandiser will report directly to an Account Developer, receiving daily guidance, structured training, and performance feedback to ensure both professional development and adherence to operational and safety standards.
Key Interactions:
· Account Developer & Sales Team: For collaboration, task allocation, coaching, and integration into the sales process.
· Customers (Store Owners/Managers): To service outlets, facilitate orders, and build professional relationships.
· Consumers: To indirectly understand preferences through in-store execution and merchandising effectiveness.
Minimum Entry Requirements:
To be eligible for this learnership, applicants must strictly meet all the following criteria:
· Education: A completed Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
· Minimum pass rate of 40% in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
· Minimum pass rate of 40% in English and a Second Language.
· Citizenship: Must be a South African Citizen.
· Employment Status: Must be unemployed at the time of appointment.
· Age: Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
· Availability: Must be available and willing to work six (6) days a week as per operational requirements.
· Equity: This position is open to applicants who are part of the designated groups under South Africa’s Employment Equity Act.
· Record Checks: Must provide consent for verification of criminal record, credit record, identity, and qualifications. No adverse records should be present.
· Other Programmes: Must not be currently enrolled in any other learnership programme or engaged in full-time studies.
· Previous Completion: Must not have previously completed the same qualification/learnership at another company.
Advantageous (Optional) Criteria:
· A valid, unendorsed Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
· A post-matric qualification (e.g., Certificate/Diploma) in Sales, Marketing, Retail Business Management, or a related field.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Throughout the 12-month programme, the learner will be entrusted with real-world responsibilities, including:
In-Store Execution & Merchandising:
· Execute daily call schedules at assigned bronze and tin-tier outlets, ensuring each visit has a clear objective and delivers value.
· Implement CCBA’s visual merchandising standards to create impactful in-store displays that drive consumer engagement and sales.
· Ensure optimal product availability, correct facing, and flawless on-shelf presence in line with brand guidelines and the RED execution framework.
· Conduct stock rotation (First-Expiry-First-Out) to guarantee product freshness and minimise wastage.
· Accurately complete iRED surveys to capture store-level execution data.
Sales Support & Customer Service:
· Proactively engage with store owners and managers to build rapport and understand outlet needs.
· Educate and support customers on how to place orders efficiently using CCBA’s digital platforms, such as MyCCBA.
· Assist in the set-up and execution of promotional activities, ensuring correct branding and compliance with planogram specifications.
Operational & Administrative Support:
· Provide relief support to the sales team as directed by the Account Developer, offering exposure to different aspects of the sales cycle.
· Maintain a high standard of professionalism and represent the CCBA brand positively in all customer interactions.
· Adhere strictly to all company safety, health, and environmental policies during in-store activities.
Qualification & Programme Outcomes:
This is a formal, accredited learnership. Upon successful completion of the 12-month programme, which includes both practical work experience and structured learning modules, the candidate will obtain a National Qualification (minimum 120 credits) in a field relevant to sales and merchandising. This qualification enhances future employability and provides a solid foundation for a career in the FMCG industry.
