Job Purpose:
To perform comprehensive cleaning, waste management, and support services within a primary healthcare facility. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a hygienic, safe, and orderly environment that complies with Health Care Waste Management and Infection Prevention and Control protocols, directly contributing to patient well-being and the effectiveness of healthcare delivery.


Minimum Requirements:

· Education: AET Level 4 (Standard 7 or Grade 9 report) OR a Grade 12 certificate.
· Experience: A minimum of six (6) months of appropriate cleaning experience, preferably within a healthcare, institutional, or large commercial environment.
· Competencies and Attributes:
· Must show initiative and possess problem-solving skills.
· Excellent interpersonal relations and sound communication abilities.
· Demonstrated honesty and reliability.
· Ability to work under pressure and cope with the physical demands of the role (including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and using cleaning equipment).
· Willingness and ability to work shifts, including night duty, weekends, and public holidays. Must be flexible to rotate as required by operational needs.


Key Performance Areas and Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following core duties:

  1. Comprehensive Cleaning Services:
    · Execute detailed cleaning of all interior and exterior areas, including but not limited to bathrooms, showers, toilets, offices, consulting rooms, passages, and waiting areas.
    · Perform dusting, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and polishing of floors.
    · Conduct high dusting of walls, ceilings, and all surfaces.
    · Wash windows, stairs, lifts, fire escapes, medical equipment surfaces, dustbins, cupboards, microwaves, and refrigerators.
  2. Infection Prevention and Control:
    · Assist in the decontamination and disinfection of clinical and non-clinical areas and surfaces.
    · Adhere strictly to all Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Health Care Waste Management guidelines.
    · Promptly and safely clean all biological and non-biological spillages using prescribed methods.
  3. Waste Management:
    · Remove general and medical waste according to strict segregation protocols, ensuring safe handling and disposal to mitigate health risks.
  4. Support and Ancillary Services:
    · Assist with laundry duties as needed.
    · Serve meals to patients and wash utensils in accordance with hygiene standards.
    · Perform any other reasonable duties as delegated by the supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
