Job Overview
The Development Bank of Southern Africa is seeking a qualified and experienced Driver to join its Human Capital division under the DBSA Shuttle Services unit. This permanent role is based in Midrand and focuses on the safe, timely, and professional transportation of employees, visitors, materials, and official documents. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing daily itineraries, maintaining vehicle roadworthiness, and ensuring full compliance with traffic laws and SARS logbook regulations. This position requires a high level of integrity, customer service orientation, and defensive driving competence.

Key Responsibilities
Transport and Delivery Operations
Transport DBSA staff and official visitors to and from designated key points in a safe, punctual, and professional manner. Maintain and update the vehicle logbook before and after each trip to meet SARS regulatory requirements and audit standards. Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and DBSA driving protocols to ensure passenger and public safety. Record accurate mileage and odometer readings before departure and upon return. Collect and deliver parcels, documents, mail, and sensitive materials including Board documents to Board Members as instructed. Handle foreign exchange documentation and other treasury-related deliveries to designated commercial banks. Deliver SARS and payroll documents to relevant departments and external institutions as required. Respond to vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or emergencies by immediately contacting emergency services and reporting to the Line Manager. Complete occurrence registers for refuelling, incidents, and vehicle-related events.

Vehicle Maintenance and Roadworthiness
Perform daily vehicle inspections in line with the Road Traffic Act and Regulations. Conduct routine checks on oil, water, fuel levels, tyre pressure, tyre surface condition, wheel alignment, and tyre rotation to maintain roadworthiness. Operate vehicles within the limits of road, weather, and traffic conditions while applying defensive driving techniques. Maintain high standards of interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness at all times. Notify management and schedule vehicle maintenance within prescribed service intervals. Monitor fuel consumption and ensure timely refuelling in accordance with fleet management procedures. Ensure that all vehicles are equipped with emergency tools including a first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, and reflective triangles.

Key Performance Indicators
Consistent and timely transportation of personnel and visitors without service disruption. Full adherence to vehicle maintenance schedules and traffic regulations with zero preventable incidents. Accurate and timeous delivery and collection of goods, parcels, and documents. Strict compliance with daily itineraries and schedules as provided by the Line Manager.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. Valid driver’s licence with a valid Passenger Driver Permit (PDP). A minimum of 3 years of experience as a passenger and delivery driver. Proven experience transporting staff within a corporate or institutional environment. Demonstrated experience operating a variety of vehicles including minibuses, sedans, and light delivery vehicles. Sound knowledge of road safety regulations and fleet management procedures. Understanding of safety, security, and protocol requirements when transporting employees or high-profile visitors.

Desirable Requirements
Advanced Driving Certificate in Defensive Driving, VIP or Professional Driving, or Advanced Driver Training.
