Job Purpose:
To perform essential cleaning, refuse collection, and general labour duties as directed by supervisory staff, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of municipal waste management services within designated areas of Johannesburg. The role is fundamental to maintaining clean public spaces and effective refuse removal systems.

Minimum Requirements:

· Education: Grade 10 (Standard 8) qualification. A Matric certificate is not required.
· Experience: A minimum of 12 months of practical experience in cleaning, general work, or a similar labour-intensive environment.
· Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID document.
· Residency: Must be a resident within the City of Johannesburg metropolitan area. Proof of residential address is mandatory.
· Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit to perform demanding manual tasks. A pre-employment medical assessment may be required.
· Background: No criminal record. Consent for credit and criminal checks is part of the recruitment process.

Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities:

· Perform thorough street cleaning, including sweeping and litter picking in assigned zones.
· Clean and sanitize refuse bins and designated public areas as per schedule.
· Collect, stack, and place refuse bags at predetermined collection points for removal.
· Assist in the delivery, placement, and replacement of domestic and communal refuse bins.
· Safely load and offload refuse bags and bins from collection vehicles.
· Operate and perform basic care for cleaning tools and equipment provided.
· Strictly adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act regulations and company safety procedures.
· Wear and maintain the issued protective personal equipment (PPE) at all times during duty.
· Promptly report any operational issues, safety hazards, injuries, or defective equipment to the Team Leader or Supervisor.
· Perform any other reasonable tasks as instructed by supervisors to support depot operations.
