Job Summary
Alert Afinta Boksburg is seeking a diligent, safety-conscious, and experienced Delivery Driver to ensure the secure and efficient transportation of goods. This role is fundamental to our daily operations, requiring an individual who embodies responsibility and meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will be entrusted with a company vehicle and the critical task of ensuring that every delivery and collection is executed flawlessly, adhering strictly to all documented procedures and safety protocols. This position goes beyond simply driving; it involves active vehicle stewardship, rigorous administrative compliance, and professional customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities and Performance Indicators
The core duties of this role are designed to guarantee safety, accuracy, and accountability at every stage of the delivery process. Your performance will be measured against the following key indicators:
- Vehicle Safety and Pre-/Post-Trip Inspection:
· Conduct a thorough daily inspection of the assigned vehicle prior to departure and upon return, utilizing the official inspection checklist.
· Submit the completed inspection list to the Dispatch Supervisor every Monday for sign-off before a new list is issued.
· Immediately report any vehicle faults, errors, or damage to the Dispatch Supervisor before the vehicle leaves the premises. Proactive reporting is mandatory for safety and maintenance. - Loading and Goods Verification:
· Collaborate with the Dispatch Supervisor to physically check and verify all parcels against the delivery manifest before loading them into the vehicle.
· Strictly adhere to the New Dispatch Loading Procedure to ensure optimal load security and organization. - Route Execution and Delivery Protocol:
· Deliver parcels to customers on your designated route according to the predetermined schedule and official trip sheet.
· Ensure all customers fully adhere to the Proof of Delivery (POD) procedure, obtaining a signed and completed POD for every item delivered.
· Strictly comply with the Returned, Faulty, or Cancelled (RFC) goods procedure for any items being collected. - Documentation and Administrative Accuracy:
· Deliver all documents and collection slips allocated to your trip sheet and obtain the necessary PODs or receipts.
· Upon return, sign trip sheets in with the POD Clerk and ensure all documents assigned to you are fully accounted for and submitted.
· You will be held personally responsible for the resolution of any outstanding trip sheets and liable for queries related to missing PODs. Timely and complete documentation is non-negotiable. - Operational Integrity and Vehicle Care:
· Under no circumstances are stock transfers to be made directly between customer shops. All movements must be channeled through the central dispatch process.
· Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle’s interior and exterior and perform basic custodial care.
· Promptly report any problems encountered during deliveries, or issues with obtaining PODs, directly to the Dispatch Supervisor.
Mandatory Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
· Education: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
· Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional delivery driving experience.
· Licensing: A valid South African driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) – This is an absolute prerequisite.
· Skills and Attributes:
· Excellent time management skills and the ability to adhere to strict delivery schedules.
· Strong verbal communication skills for professional interaction with customers and the dispatch team.
· Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment.
· Demonstrated honesty and high personal integrity.
· Personal Circumstances:
· Must maintain sober habits.
· Must possess a clear criminal record.
