About the Role:
The Pongola-Umzimkhulu Catchment Management Agency seeks a dedicated Human Resource Clerk to provide essential clerical and administrative support within the HR department. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient HR operations, ensuring compliance with public service regulations, and supporting staff across the agency. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and have a foundational understanding of HR practices within the public sector.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide comprehensive clerical services to support the human resources function.
· Offer administrative assistance throughout the recruitment and selection cycle, including appointments, probation monitoring, and processing service terminations.
· Administer employee conditions of service, managing processes related to leave, housing allowances, medical aid, and other statutory benefits.
· Respond to and resolve internal and external HR-related inquiries professionally and promptly.
· Maintain HR registry services and ensure accurate record-keeping.
· Accurately capture and update employee transactions on the PERSAL system.
· Maintain and organize both electronic and physical personnel filing systems to ensure data integrity and easy retrieval.
· Draft routine correspondence, prepare submissions, and compile basic HR reports as required.
· Support the effective implementation and adherence to departmental HR policies, Public Service regulations, and other relevant prescripts.

Minimum Requirements:

· A Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
· A valid, unexpired driver’s license.
· Basic knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.

Advantages:

· A diploma or degree in Human Resources Management will be a significant advantage.
· One to two years of relevant experience, including internship placements, is preferred.
· Working knowledge of the PERSAL system is highly beneficial.
· Understanding of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, and related HR prescripts will strengthen an application.
