Position Overview
An immediate opportunity exists for a diligent and reliable General Worker within the Facilities Management and Office Accommodation section. This role is fundamental to the operational integrity of the Bosman Street Workshop, ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe working environment for all staff and artisans. The successful candidate will perform essential routine maintenance and cleaning duties, supporting the broader objectives of the Group Property Department in maintaining municipal assets to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
· Execute general cleaning tasks including sweeping workshop floors, cleaning drains, pits, work levels, and machinery.
· Thoroughly clean and maintain all tools allocated to workshop artisans.
· Promptly report any lost, damaged, or faulty tools and equipment to the supervisor.
· Strictly adhere to all provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) to ensure a zero-harm environment.
· Safely lift, carry, and move heavy objects and materials as required.
· Diligently follow all reasonable instructions issued by the designated supervisor.
· Support the workshop team with ancillary duties to facilitate efficient service delivery.
Minimum Appointment Requirements
· Basic Literacy: Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English.
· Physical Fitness: Must be in good health with the demonstrable ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy items.
· Background Check: Must consent to and pass a criminal record check. Fingerprints will be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at the candidate’s own cost.
· Advantageous Experience: Prior experience in providing cleaning or general labor services within a workshop, industrial, or maintenance environment.

Remuneration and Benefits
The position is graded at Level T1 with an annual basic salary ranging from R159,936 to R186,936. The estimated total remuneration package, inclusive of benefits, is between R236,535 and R270,901 per annum. The City of Tshwane offers a competitive benefits package which may include pension fund, medical aid, and leave benefits, subject to the organization’s prevailing policies.
