About the Role:
The Department of Employment and Labour invites applications from suitably qualified South African citizens for 146 permanent Client Service Officer positions within the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) across Gauteng. This is a critical frontline role where you will serve as the primary interface between the public and the UIF, directly impacting citizens during times of need by facilitating access to crucial unemployment benefits. Successful candidates will be deployed to specific Labour Centres, where they will be responsible for delivering efficient, accurate, and empathetic customer service in strict adherence to legislative frameworks and the Batho Pele principles.

Minimum Requirements:
· A Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.
· A working knowledge of the following is essential:
· Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA) and Regulations.
· Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act (UICA).
· Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
· Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
· Treasury Regulations.
· Batho Pele Principles.
· Relevant Departmental Policies and UIF Standard Operating Procedures.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, internal systems).
· Strong interviewing and active listening abilities.
· Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in conflict management and resolution.
· Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.

· A demonstrated willingness to undergo mandatory on-the-job training.
Key Performance Areas and Duties:
· Provide initial screening and triage services to UIF clients visiting the Labour Centre.
· Receive, assess, and process applications for UIF benefits (e.g., unemployment, illness, maternity, adoption, dependents).
· Accurately capture and verify client information on the relevant UIF systems.
· Register payment continuation forms and related documentation.
· Provide clients with clear information regarding application status, requirements, and processes.
· Perform a range of general administrative duties to ensure efficient office workflow.
· Handle client enquiries and complaints professionally, adhering to service standards.
· Maintain confidentiality and handle all personal information in compliance with POPIA.
· Uphold the Batho Pele principles in all client interactions.
